Toomapäev langeb enam vähem talvise pööripäevaga kokku ja on päikeseaasta lõpupäev- see on ülioluline pöördepunkt. Skandinaavias algas toomapäeval uus aasta. Toomapäev on oluline on tähtis kurjade jõudude peletamise, valgusele ja päikesele uue jõu kindlustamise poolest. Tähtpäev on säilitanud mitmeid muistseid tavasid ja saanud kristlike motiive.

Jaanipäev

24 juuni Jaanipäev. Jaanipäev on iidne suvepüha, vanasti käidi surnute haudadel ja õhtul süüdati suur jaanituli, ning koguneti igas vanuses pereliikmetega ühiselt lõbutsema. Paljud rahvad seostasid jaanituld algselt päikesepüha ja -kultuseega. See kehtib ka eestlaste kohta. Jaanilõkkeks koguti küttematerjali. Jaanitule kõrvale tehti kiik. Jaanituld tehti enamasti kaskedest. 1970. aastal visati tulle igasuguseid asju mis ette sattus
